Cleaning Coffee Stains from Fabric or Material
Have you ever been faced with having to clean coffee or tea stains from carpeting, clothes or upholstery.
Well here are some tips and techniques to help you get the job done:
- Time. When facing any stain, time is of the essence. The sooner you attempt to clean it, the better. If the stain is allowed to dry, it may be harder to fully remove.
- Vinegar. Mix one teaspoon of white vinegar to one quart of cold water. Distilled water is better if you have it. Spray onto the stain and then blot it up with a paper towel.
- Baking Soda or corn starch. Make a paste and cover the stain completely. Place a damp paper towel on top and allow it to fully dry. The paste should pull the stain out as it dries. If there is still a slight discoloration, then sprinkle more baking soda or corn starch on it, then rub it into the material and rinse off with a damp cloth.
We caution you not to use any bleach style stain removers on any material.
Cleaning Coffee Stains from Coffee Pots
This technique works quite well on coffee or tea pots:
- Crushed ice into fine pieces with a blender or in a bag while hammering until crushed.
- Add 1/2 cup of salt to ice in a large bag.
- Add a full lemon sliced into 4 or 5 pieces. and add to bag.
- Shake bag to mix ice, salt and lemons together and add to pot. Swish it around for a few minutes and rinse out. If the pot is severely stained, then let it sit longer and then use a soft bristle brush to clean.
There are other products available but they will cost you some money and are sometimes hard to locate. Brown-Out may be found at some janitorial supply retailers and is effective at removing brown stains from certain fabrics. There are a few brands of coffee pot cleaning formulas which can be found at some grocery stores.
